so much for posting weekly...

Just sooooooooo many things going on...today hibernating/hiding in my artroom...

I had signed up for a pay it forward hand-made project on facebook earlier this year.  I just finished my gift to send out.  I knitted a winter headband (thinking there was plenty of winter left here in MI - we just completed 3 weeks of weather that was like living in FL - 70's-upper 80's) anyways I completed the headband but then ran into a snag.  I wanted a white flower on it and didn't know how to make one.  I purchased one and planned on embellishing it when I saw a short 2 hr class offered locally for felting flowers!!!  PERFECT!  On a Sunday - so yes, I could go and it wouldn't take up my one day off to get other things accomplished.  So off I went to Rae's Yarn Boutique in Lansing.  Ta-dah!!!!!!!!!  Love my flower, it was exactly what I had pictured in my head and now the entire thing is completely hand-made.  My friend is a Spartan fan - green and white - so this will be perfect for next years football games!
I am now going to make a maize and blue one for myself, my daughter in law, and my granddaughters so we'll be ready for MICHIGAN football.  The felting was so much fun!
As for my painting...I am feeling like this journal page....washed up and fading...

nothing is going on the paper with a good feel...I must pull myself together as I have been commissioned to do a gift and really need some artistic mojo to come back!!!

Thanks for visiting - be sure to check out all the good artwork on Sunday Sketches hosted by Sophia!

It feels like spring is just around the corner...

I know it's Michigan and I am getting a false since of spring...we are surely in for more snow and those dreaded ice storms of April...BUT yesterday the sun was shining and the world was bright!!!!  Filled my birdfeeders outside my kitchen window and watched my feathered friends gather!!!!  It just felt and sounded like spring!!!!

with alittle help from my friends!!!

So happy valentine's day...I have the day off and am just enjoying my morning.  Yesterday I celebrated my 55th birthday!!!  I made cupcakes, as I do every year for all the patients at work, they love it and I received all kinds of hugs and good wishes.  Then came home to a couple friends just popping in with wishes and a card, a nice surprise.  Mark's daughter returned from a 3 week clinical in California with her cows to pick up her dog - yes!!! and the 3 of us went out for a burger and beer.  Nice and quiet just how I like it these days.  Received calls from all the kids and g-kids, as well as, many facebook happy's!!!!  So, as I relax today and just soak up the calm I popped over to
then had to sit down with a book I received from a friend for Christmas: 642 things to draw by Chronicle Books...and just doodled the spirit of today!!!  the trigger phrase is: a string of DNA, I think I've got it!!!

Enjoy your day with your loved ones...smile at stranger's, they may be alone!!!

resurrecting Sinderella...

Adding this 2-16-2012 - for the Fly Tribe "I love art because" blog party!  I really feel that my resurrecting Sinderella post is that I love art and need art!!!  click on the sidebar to visit all the participating artists!!!
As I continue to focus on important family matters I realize art is my outlet.  I am a better thinker and helper when I have a way to release tension and separate myself from daily reality.  Art is therapy.  So, with that said, not a huge commitment but at least once a week I shall return to arting and blogging!!!!  I hope that you will rejoin me as I continue this journey!!!!

Obviously on sheet music; watercolor crayons, acrylics and graphite pencil.

SIGNING OFF...

Well, we are coming to the end of 2011 and it has been a rewarding year in many ways.  I have loved, and I mean loved, all of you in blogland.  I have appreciated each and every visit my blog has received!  The encouragement, education, inspiration and motivation has been amazing.  My art has grown and so have I as an individual and artist.  As much as I love this little personal space I am signing off for now.

I have some family concerns that need my attention and time.  So, as there are only so many hours in a day somethings gotta give, as they say, and its my blog.  I hope to pop in from time to time and check in on all of you.  I will miss Friday Paint Party's with Eva and Kristin - as well as - Sunday Sketches with Sophia!!!So you may get a shout out from me but for the most part I will not be blogging for awhile.

May all of you have a healthy happy and artful 2012!!!!  Much love and cheers, dana
