PPF and more on our vacation...

I was so happy that I actually took out my journal on this trip... I always say I am going to paint or sketch or or or.... when we take vacation.  We get where we are going and this feeling of intimidation sets in and I don't want anyone peeking over my shoulder because they may "judge" what I am doing.  My husband doesn't count... he is a fair critic but once in awhile hurts my feelings alittle.  He is an engineer and doesn't get some of my painting from emotions.  Anyways... since my trip to Key West in 2008 and painting freely on the streets - be it not so good - in that environment (after a couple days ) I allowed myself to go with the flow... and on occassion have forced myself to do the same thing out and about at home.  This vacation I just felt so free.... I sat out on our little porch with passerby's and just keep sketching and having fun!  One morning on the beach with Hurrican Sandy winds wiping up the ocean - put on a jacket and set out with my pencils and so it went!  FABULOUS!!!!
So along with the craziness of Key West Fantasy Fest... I sketched this bird in keeping with the spirit of the island!

Fantasy Bird of Key West
Watercolor crayons, watercolor pencils and pitt pen!  sorry this pic is so bad - too much sand in my camera lens - it died and I just couldn't get a good one on my tab.

Today is also Dia de Los Muertos!  Please remember those you've lost and celebrate them!

Thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting such a wonderful place in our crazy world!  Paint ON!!!

cheers, dana

New to me....Creative Tuesdays....

The theme was "spy"....hummmm, 007?  Maxwell Smart? Nancy Drew?
double agents....
I decided to keep it simple:

Eye Spy!!!

Does anyone remember the game, I spy something....  and you would guess.  The person whose turn it was would let you know if you were getting warm or so far off that you were cold - you'd keep guessing until you "spyied" what they had!

Can't wait to see the other takes on "SPY"....CHECK THEM OUT WITH ME ...click on the Creative Tuesday button!!!

Sunday Sketches...summers ending....

I keep bopping around and looking at all the great work here in blogland...between Paint Party Fridays and Sunday Sketches....wow, just amazing work and inspiration to be found.  I sometimes get overwhelmed and stop participating because I feel that unless I produce something "worthy" I shouldn't post.  I don't want people to feel they have to compliment work that isn't really good.  I realize that it isn't about creating a masterpiece - IT IS ABOUT THE DOING!!!  So, this morning I was up really really early - long story that I will save you from - just sipping my morning coffee, listening to the rain and GRABBED MY SHARPIES!!!  Pencil doodled and marker doodled my thoughts for the upcoming day. (Thank you Darla, doodling in my mind!!!)  Splashed some blue to convey my soothing mood and am done!

HAPPY SUNDAY TO EVERYONE....PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO FRIDAY'S POST OR just know that next Friday I am pulling a name out of my favorite coffee cup to receive Kelly Rae Roberts book, Taking Flight.  We all need books to put our hands and eyes on to start our artsy wheels turning!!!  I have been so inspired by her work and all you Friday Sunday artists' that I just want to share some art-time!!!!
Thanks to our Sunday host Sophie - her mushrooms today just crack me up as I wanted to make my helmet look like a mushroom (because that's what it looks like I have on my head when I ride) but couldn't master it...wished I had checked in with her first!!!

sunday sketches and one wore out Grams!!!

Well, 9 weeks of babysitting step-daughters Newfinland (huge harry) dog...2 weekends in there with multiple grandkids for the weekend (as parents had outings)...3 days of sons lab (hyper harry large) dog, a couple open houses, a wedding and my 8 yr old granddaughter here for her solo birthday visit with grams...and I am toast.  Our house is choas and I don't know where to start to put it all back together.  Carpets and furniture get cleaned Tuesday...that will make me feel better.  In the midst of all this still recovering from the Scrapfest and my solo Fl-art (flash art mob - yes, of one).  So, Cloee (granddaughter) and I did a non-stop shop, eat, art weekend.  She helped me tie up my Faerie Shoe swap project...can't show because it is not in the mail yet...still drying.  Cloee did a project of her own (with alittle help from ideas on Kristin Dudish's blog) and I did my Sunday Sketch... aren't you tired too, just from reading this??? lol  Anyways, life is short so better to be exhausted and with the ones you love than sitting on the sofa moaning about the heat!
Cloee absolutely loved going through some of the Paint Party Friday's with me ... she couldn't believe all the GREAT artwork and was amazed that grams "knows" all these artists...thanks everyone for making me look so worldly!!!!  She is excited to have her work posted on Sunday Sketches...thanks Sophia for hosting!

I will, as usual, be late getting to view everyone's work but will be hopping around later today and into the week.  Off  now to have breakfast with Great Grandpa so Cloee can spend sometime and then drop her off with her mom at church...another full speed ahead day!!!!
meeting of the minds!!!!
A journal page: coated the page with white acrylic then did sketch and used watercolor paint/pencils...sharpie markers.
